Carter had just completed a training session, and decided that since he was all sweaty, it would be a great day for a swim. Some of his other friends were going to hang out at the basketball courts, but he wasn't in the mood for that, which was really strange. Normally he would be excited for the chance to boast about how amazing he was, but not right now. Kicking off his sneakers onto the warm sand, he glanced around, his eyes scanning for attractive females. Carter ran a hand through his copper curls, still searching. He wasn't just going to  swim, that wasn't exciting. Talking to a girl while swimming? Much better. Now, if only there was one around.

Shannon had felt a weird sensation in her head, which, had somehow made her decide to go swimming at the beach today. It made no sense, but she'd learned not to ignore weird feelings, especially with her mom being who she was. Bad luck usually stemmed from bad decisions. She was wearing a baggy camp shirt she'd 'borrowed' from on of the guys in the Apollo cabin over her swimsuit as she reached the beach, briefly glancing at the guy standing in the sand. She recognized him as the guy who she played poker with for a bit a few weeks ago and rolled her eyes, pulling the shirt over her head and tossing it aside, stepping closer to the water.

Carter's ice blue eyes flicked around the soft sands again, this time spotting a vaguely familiar face. It was a little difficult to tell with the larger camp shirt, but he guessed that it was one of the twins he had attempted to play poker with. "Hey!" he called, jogging over to the girl. "Shannon, right?" Carter guessed, raising an eyebrow at her. The demigod expected her to not care, or maybe to ignore him, but if he was lucky maybe she would go for a swim with him.

Shannon turned her head to face the guy who was on the beach. He'd ran over to her side now, and was greeting her. She resisted the urge to groan when he got her name right, which meant she couldn't have an easy time pretending she didn't know him at all. "Yep, that's me." she replied easily. Raising an eyebrow for him to continue with whatever he was hoping for. To be honest, it wasn't that he wasn't cute, because he definitely was, just he seemed a little bit... annoying.

Maybe it was the way the sand tickled his feet, or maybe it was how Shannon's hair blew in the wind, but Carter suddenly found himself unable to keep a very important part of his body under control. He felt something rising within him, something that usually only happened in the shower, something he couldn't keep tucked away anymore.

He felt the urge to sing his heart out.

As if his vocal cords had a life of their own, Carter suddenly burst out singing "California Gurls" by Katy Perry at the top of his longs, serenading Shannon.
